This lesson was prepared for a blended-learning, 8th grade, ELA class. Both of the documents depicted here were shared with the class via Google Drive and MyBigCampus. This lesson was aligned with Common Core State Standards. It was part of a unit in which my students learned about literary elements, and then applied their understanding by analyzing texts such as “Harlem.” Throughout the unit I asked them to support their interpretations with evidence from the various texts we read. The source for the poems is the Poetry Foundation website. It is a great resource for the use of poetry in the classroom. |
