I presented at the 11th Annual Globalization, Diversity & Education Conference with a professor of mine. Our presentation was titled “Teaching the Mostly-Undead: The Struggle for Pedagogies of Hope and Love in Teacher Education.” The choice of topic reflects my desire to become a more ethical educator, mindful of issues of social justice in the classroom, and mindful of the implications of such a view for my practice. Attending and presenting at this conference I think also reflects a desire to grow in pedagogical skill, by wanting to understand the myriad struggles that diverse groups of student face, in school in particular, and in becoming educated in general. |
